[extremely Ron Perlman voice] Waifus… waifus never change.
Shelter 69 takes place in the ruins of the old world, which you may know as your daily life. That’s right – society has finally collapsed under its own weight, and life as we know it has gone the way of the dodo. But the bombs never fell, and the world never caught fire. Instead, a very simple but devastating change occurred: the male chromosome died out. As more men died, no boys were being born. Soon, the world was left with only AFABs to pick up the world that society had ruined for them.
You play as the apocalypse’s last man. Sealed away in a bunker, you come surface to a world unlike anything you were ever promised. Now, the planet has been divided into matriarchal factions, and their targets are all set on you. If you want any hope of surviving this brave new world, you’ll need to choose your allies wisely and prepare yourself for the worst.
Shelter 69 is a strategy game with an emphasis on base-building, inspired by other smash-hit titles in the genre. Only in this game, your bunker will be populated exclusively by the badass and bodacious cast of rough n’ tumble cuties. With over 40 ladies to meet, greet, and recruit into your ranks, you’ll have your hands full for hours with this one. The base-building is expansive and comprehensive, but accessible enough for even strategy beginners to take a crack at it. It’s one of those games that you can play at your own pace, without a pressing need to always be checking out. At the same time? You’ll definitely always be able to sink a good binge into it!
The best part is, you’re not going to hit any repetition here. Shelter 69 currently has 10 robust narrative chapters, jam-packed with visual novel segments and text convos. On top of that, it boasts over 100 uncensored sex scenes – unlocked through animated sex scenes and collectable pin-up pictures. Who knew that the apocalypse would be this horny?
Let’s face it – the world is a scary place. We need a good apocalypse story, every now and again, to remind us that we’d be okay if everything went wrong. Shelter 69 honestly imagines the best case scenario, too. True, it’s a nightmarish scenario, but it’s a less violent and more grounded take on what would happen if a simple thing unsettled everything that we took for granted. There’s a glimmer of hope, and that hope is the player – trying to make the best of a world he doesn’t totally understand. He’s a man out of time, but definitely not out of options.
